In this study, we determined the crystal structure and examined the size of the ssDNA-binding site of SSB from S. enterica serovar Typhimurium LT2, which is a ubiquitous opportunistic pathogen that is highly resistant to antibiotics and the leading cause of human gastroenteritis, and it has also been used in generating a mouse model of human typhoid fever [25]. This evidence concerns the gene SSB and typhoid fever.
