The investigation of antiamyloid activity of dendrimers was further extended to other amyloidogenec proteins, such as beta-amyloid (Aβ) peptide associated with the onset of Alzheimer’s disease [15,145,157,158,159,160,161,162,163], alpha-synuclein involved in Parkinson’s disease [145,164,165,166,167], tau protein associated with both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases [146] and transthyretin [168], which induced the amyloidogenic transthyretin (ATTR) amyloidosis. The gene discussed is TTR; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
