As the Charlson Comorbidity index was similar in both groups with an FIB-4 score ≥ 2.0 and < 2.0 (Table 2), it seems unlikely that the higher depression IRR in the FIB ≥ 2 group is attributable to a higher comorbidity but specific for the FIB-4 components age, platelet count, and AST/ALT.
