Orai3 gene expression knockdown using a specific siRNA enhanced cisplatin-induced apoptotic cell death in both lung adenocarcinoma cell lines, while Orai3 overexpression drastically reduced cisplatin-induced cell death and enhanced stemness in non-small cell lung cancer cells, as demonstrated by the enhanced expression of the stemness-related transcription factors Nanog and Sox2 via PI3K/AKT pathway, which resulted to be dependent on the increase in Orai3 expression [147]. The gene discussed is ORAI3; the disease is lung adenocarcinoma.
