Epithelial cells undergoing EMT can experience the so-called “cadherin switch”, characterized by E-cadherin downregulation paralleled by an increased N-cadherin expression [17,18,19], a process frequently observed in cancer, such as in poorly differentiated pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) cells [18,19,20,21]. The gene discussed is CDH1; the disease is pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
