While further investigations are necessary, the presence of CCR2high monocytes in blood and CCR2+ MoMF in liver biopsies suggests monocyte recruitment to the liver from the circulating monocyte pool may be, together with their interaction with cytotoxic CD8+ T cells, mechanistically important in the pathogenesis of CPI-induced hepatitis (Figure 3a–c). The gene discussed is CCR2; the disease is hepatitis A virus infection.
