The remaining variables associated with all-cause mortality were age, diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, liver cirrhosis, higher Child–Pugh class, clinically significant portal hypertension, oesophageal varices, preoperative levels of haemoglobin, international normalised ratio, total bilirubin, AST, alpha-fetoprotein, and albumin.
