A scRNA-seq analysis of leukocytes from infarcted and non-infarcted mouse hearts revealed that, after ischemic cell death, the uptake of cell debris by macrophages in the heart activated interferon regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) and type I interferons (IFNs), thus promoting the lethal response to myocardial infarction. This evidence concerns the gene IRF3 and myocardial infarction.
