A point-of-care semiquantitative test, the SNAP cPL® (IDEXX Laboratories, Westbrook, ME, USA), was developed for rapid patient-side diagnosis of pancreatitis but, despite a good sensitivity of 73.9–100%, its specificity lies between 59–77.8% [12,21], and clinicians are encouraged to follow up a positive SNAP cPL® test result with a measurement of cPL concentration [22].
