Coupling FASN inhibitors to inhibitors of aromatase, the enzyme converting androgens into oestrogens, could serve as potential therapeutic strategy in aromatase inhibitor-treated ER+ breast cancer patients to recurrence, which is due to the ability for aromatase inhibitors, such as anastrozole, to upregulate ER-dependent FASN protein expression in this cancer type by inhibiting ubiquitin-mediated FASN protein degradation [221]. This evidence concerns the gene FASN and cancer.
