As a consequence of Bcl2 and Bax upregulation and an increased intracellular inactive cofilin-1 pool, Gas5 over-expression in U87 and U251 glioma cell lines is translated into a lower ratio of proliferation and migration and enhanced cellular apoptosis, suggesting that Gas5 can negatively modulate glioma aggressiveness by altering the miR-222/Bmf/PLXN1 axis [75]. The gene discussed is GAS5; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
