First, regarding the role of astrocytes and tanycytes in PCOS pathology, it could be that the physical ensheathment of GnRH neurons by those glial cells is disrupted in PCOS, thus enhancing the ability for excitatory inputs to access GnRH neurons and/or increase GnRH terminal access to the portal blood capillaries, leading to hypersecretion of GnRH/LH.
