In a mouse model of colitis, the methyltransferase METTL3 was shown to modify the mRNA levels of Socs1 and Socs3 mRNAs by m6A methylation, which reduced the attenuation of both mRNAs and increased their translation, thereby negatively regulating IL-7/STAT5 signaling and the inflammatory response in T cells (32). This evidence concerns the gene SOCS3 and colitis.
