Translocation carcinoma (tRCC) encompasses a diverse range of fusions that involve one of three genes: TFE3, TFEB, and MITB. The TFE3 is located on Xp11.2; hence, the other name for this subgroup is Xp11 translocation carcinoma, though it should be noted that the term is not inclusive of all the translocations observed in this category. This evidence concerns the gene TFE3 and renal cell carcinoma associated with Xp11.2 translocations/TFE3 gene fusions.
