Therefore the aim of this study was to compare the plasma and aqueous levels of Alarin and Adipsin, which were thought to have an effect on diabetic retinopathy, in patients with diabetic retinopathy, patients with diabetes but no retinopathy, and those with neither diabetes nor retinopathy, and to thereby be able to determine the potential role of these molecules in the etiopathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy. The gene discussed is GALP; the disease is diabetic retinopathy.
