NPPB and acute myocarditis: Although most of the patients with acute myocarditis have mildly to moderately elevated NT-proBNP levels as a result of inflammation and myocardial injuries, markedly elevated NT-proBNP, which is a marker of severe cardiac dysfunction and extensive myocardial injuries, may help to give useful information for early recognition and prognosis evaluation of patients with fulminant myocarditis.
