MAPT and frontotemporal dementia: Konermann et al., incorporated dRfxCas13d into the AAV vector and transfer it to the neuronal model of frontotemporal dementia cells to maneuver pathological alternative splicing of tau pre-mRNA and they found that dRfxCas13d binds to cis-elements of pre-mRNA of tau and successfully manipulated the alternative splicing which result in alleviation of dysregulated tau isoform ratios in a neuronal model of frontotemporal dementia (Konermann et al., 2018).
