Similar to our study, researchers (46) by generating transgenic L. major expressing murine chemokine monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1), showed that infection of C57BL/6, BALB/c, or MCP-1 knockout (KO) mice with these transgenic Leishmania caused small lesions with fewer parasites in the infected foot, spleen, and lymph node versus mice infected with the wild-type. Here, CCL2 is linked to infection.
