Of note, in 2017, the FDA approved the use of two CD19-targeting CAR-T products, CTL-019 (Kymriah) from Novartis and Yescarta from Gilead, in pediatric relapsed or refractory acute lymphoblastic leukemia (AML) and adult relapsed or refractory large B cell lymphoma, respectively (10, 11), which indicated that the CAR-T era had finally arrived. The gene discussed is CD19; the disease is acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
