By summarizing a large number of studies, the predictors of SAP include age, sex, smoking, pre-stroke modified Rankin Scale (mRS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), dysphagia, history of various diseases (e.g., atrial fibrillation, cardiac valve disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, diabetes, etc.), and predictors in the blood (e.g., interleukin-6, interleukin-10, procalcitonin, C-reactive protein, leukocyte count, lymphocyte count, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, fibrinogen, etc.)(9–17). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and stroke disorder.
