APOB and systemic lupus erythematosus: Since metabolic complications contribute to increased morbidity and mortality in SLE patients, as mentioned in a study by Szabo et al., where 30% of SLE patients at the time of diagnosis were found to have dyslipidemia with elevations in total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), triglyceride (TG), and apolipoprotein B (ApoB) (Szabó et al., 2017), safe and efficacious compounds that mitigate the metabolic complications of lupus erythematosus will be ideal.
