NEDD4L and hypertensive disorder: In fact, studies have found that carriers of the Nedd4L salt-sensitivity-associated genotype (rs4149601 A→G and rs2288774 T→C NEDD4L variants) had higher systolic and diastolic blood pressure and multivariate adjusted hazards ratio (95% confidence interval) of CVD 1.13 (1.02-1.25, P = 0.018), coronary events 1.20 (1.06-1.37; P = 0.005) and cardiovascular mortality 1.17 (0.99-1.37; P = 0.055) than noncarriers, suggesting that the genotype of Nedd4L related to salt-sensitivity is associated with hypertension and higher risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in human beings [77].
