Inhibiting the key enzymes in this pathway, including HK2,13 6‐phosphofructo‐2‐kinase/fructose‐2,6‐bisphosphatase‐3 (PFKFB3)14 and pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2),15 could suppress the activation of hepatic stellate cells and the subsequent liver fibrosis, which is the main contributor to liver cirrhosis and HCC. This evidence concerns the gene HK2 and cirrhosis of liver.
