Recently, many renin and ACE inhibitory peptides obtained from plant or foodstuff sources have been investigated, including bean hydrolysates,5 amaranth proteins,6 beef hydrolysates,7 flaxseed protein,8,9 and bovine fibrinogen.10 Although these food-derived peptides have provided new ideas for the prevention and treatment of hypertension, the efficacy of these peptides in the human body needs to be further verified. This evidence concerns the gene REN and hypertensive disorder.
