In early-pubertal girls with obesity (not prepubertal girls), there was a positive correlation (p < 0.01) between BMI and HOMA-IR (r = 0.649), leptin (r = 0.627) and T (r = 0.424); as well as between leptin and LH (r = 0.464), androstenedione (r = 0.366) and T (r = 0.454) levels, and between HOMA-IR and LH (r = 0.489) and T (r = 0.416). The gene discussed is PLOD1; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
