Asymptomatic infection at diagnosis was more frequent in patients who reconstructed the CD4+ lymphocyte count to >500 cells/μL (48.2% vs. 20%) and to >800 cells/μL (61.1% vs. 38.9%), and in those who recovered their CD4+/CD8+ cell ratio to >0.8 (74.3% vs. 25.7%) or > 1.0 (62.8% vs. 37.2%; p < 0.001). This evidence concerns the gene CD8A and infection.
