LTF and irritable bowel syndrome: More recently, a recombinant human Lf, called VEN-120, was studied in two murine models of intestinal inflammation, the DSS-induced colitis model and the TNFΔARE/+ model of Crohn-like ileitis, by MacManus et al. They demonstrated that VEN-120 was able to reduce inflammation in both models of IBD, by increasing regulatory T cells in intestinal lamina propria and associated lymphoid tissue [76].
