Notably, we failed to detect baicalein suppression of p53 phosphorylation at Ser392 or baicalein induction of CSC-related gene expression, such as Nanog and Oct4 expression (data not shown), implying that baicalein-induced Parkin-dependent mitophagy is dispensable for p53 phosphorylation-dependent self-renewal of CSCs and the development of liver cancer. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and liver cancer.
