Russel and colleagues [14] combined MUCIN-16, Vitamin K-dependent protein Z (PROZ), phosphatidylcholine-sterol acyltransferase (LCAT) and C-reactive protein (CRP), into a multiplex biomarker panel that, when compared with a patient’s own baseline, showed promising performance in detecting ovarian cancer as early as 1–2 years prior to current diagnostic methods. Here, CRP is linked to ovarian carcinoma.
