We show that 5-Aza upregulates miR-139-5p, which in turn causes the downregulation of ROCK2/cyclin D1/E2F1/cyclin B1 and the upregulation of p27kip1 (Figure 5b), inducing the accumulation of HCC cells in G1/G0 and G2/M phases of the cell cycle. Here, E2F1 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
