A study on postmenopausal women with osteoporosis showed that once-daily administration of recombinant human parathyroid hormone (1–34) (Teriparatide) induced beneficial changes in the structural architecture of distal radial diaphysis, with an increase in total bone mineral content, but without significant effects on cortical bone content, total BMD or cortical BMD [18]. The gene discussed is PTH; the disease is osteoporosis.
