Additional evidence of RAR dysfunction in HCC comes from the comparison across various liver conditions, including liver regeneration, multiple fetal development stages, human hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatoblastoma cell lines (i.e., HepG2), and finally, less frequent types of liver cancer, such as adenoma, fibrolamellar carcinoma, and cholangiocarcinoma. The gene discussed is RARA; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
