Increased risk of PRM at 6 months was associated with the rs1130866 (C allele) of SFTPB. The same SNP is shown to associate with an increased risk of various other pulmonary diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (Seifart et al., 2002), acute respiratory distress syndrome (Lin et al., 2000b), interstitial pulmonary fibrosis (Selman et al., 2003), and ARF in adults (Quasney et al., 2004), but with a decreased risk of HP (Gandhi et al., 2021) and neonatal RDS (Floros et al., 2001). Here, SFTPB is linked to pulmonary fibrosis.
