Although Mxi1 has been extensively studied in the context of carcinogenesis and well documented as a tumor suppressor (Zervos et al., 1993; Huang et al., 2018), this is probably the first study to determine that it is also an important player in HPH, reminiscent of multiple shared pathomechanisms between pulmonary hypertension and cancer (Negi et al., 2021). Here, MXI1 is linked to pulmonary hypertension.
