LDHB and Glucose intolerance: These results were previously attributed to the HFD effects on the metabolism of animals such as (a) a rapid accumulation of blood lactate due to a downregulation in lactate dehydrogenase isoform B (LDHB) and a decrease in monocarboxylate transporters 2 (MCT2) (Chen et al., 2017); (b) an alteration in glucose metabolism, which induces insulin resistance and glucose intolerance (Mardare et al., 2016); and (c) impairment of mitochondrial function in skeletal muscle (Takada et al., 2015).
