Although neoplastic brain is one of the standard brain phenotypes assessed in Drosophila glioblastoma models (Read, 2011), deficiency of dTet did not cause neoplasia as is the case when expressing common glioblastoma EGFR-Ras and PI3K mutations in Drosophila glia (Read, 2011); however, it caused an expansion in a differentiated glia population (Repo positive cells) in larval brain lobes. Here, EGFR is linked to glioblastoma.
