As for other pathogenic gene mutations [1–3], germline mutations in BRCA1- and BRCA2 genes (BReast CAncer 1 gene and BReast CAncer 2 gene) predispose carriers to an increased susceptibility in developing breast and ovarian cancer [4] but also prostate, pancreatic cancer and melanoma [5]. The gene discussed is BRCA2; the disease is ovarian cancer.
