We tested the following hypotheses: (1) the DS group will show significant cortical atrophy and amyloid accumulation over time; (2) levels of amyloid deposition at TP1 will be associated with cortical atrophy at TP2; and finally, (3) tau deposition will correlate negatively with cortical atrophy within specific brain regions where neurofibrillary tangles are typically found in the AD progression.24 The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is amyloidosis.
