We tested the following hypotheses: (1) the DS group will show significant cortical atrophy and amyloid accumulation over time; (2) levels of amyloid deposition at TP1 will be associated with cortical atrophy at TP2; and finally, (3) tau deposition will correlate negatively with cortical atrophy within specific brain regions where neurofibrillary tangles are typically found in the AD progression.24 This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Cerebral cortical atrophy.
