The observed time course of gene expression and the fact that BG induced autophagy peaks after 12 h of treatment suggests that upregulation of genes involved in G-protein signalling like RGS2 and GEM, as well as tumor suppressors like RGCC, SPRY2 and TMEM158 represent the early response to BG treatment, probably involved in the induction of autophagic cell death. The gene discussed is TMEM158; the disease is neoplasm.
