Given that IL-17A producing γδ T cells play a crucial role in neutrophil infiltration following stroke (Gelderblom et al., 2012) and are known to express IL1-R1 (Sutton et al., 2009), we hypothesized that IL-1 also drives neutrophil infiltration into the ischemic hemisphere through the induction of IL-17A in γδ T cells.
