ANXA1 and cancer: To determine whether the endogenously expressed ANXA1 in microglia (autocrine) plays a role in microglia activation and recruitment in response to cancer, ANXA1 was deleted in BV-2 microglia cells using CRISPR-Cas9 (ΔANXA1 BV-2) (Additional file 1: Methods and Additional file 1: Fig. S7), and transwell migration and gene expression profiles of pro- and anti-inflammatory markers were assessed in parental and ΔANXA1 BV-2 microglial cells.
