TP53 and neoplasm: A meta-analysis of 13 studies including 564 cases concluded that GCs with high levels of p53 expression on immunohistochemistry (IHC) have a decreased response to chemotherapy.31 Unfortunately, the correlation of p53 expression on IHC with TP53 mutational status is not consistent, making it difficult to extrapolate the findings of this analysis toward tumor DNA sequencing results.32,33 More recent studies have attempted to delineate the predictive potential of TP53 mutations in the era of molecularly targeted therapies and immunotherapies.
