LEP and Huntington disease: Interestingly in the early stage of HD, the aggregation of HTT in the hypothalamus and adipose tissue is related with hyperphagia, insulin resistance, alteration in levels and function of adipokines, such as leptin, and abnormal metabolism and fat storage by adipocytes, which may be associated with endocrine abnormalities, peripheral/central inflammation, and weight gain12,22,23,25,27–31.
