The hallmark of COVID-19 pathogenesis is the cytokine storm with higher levels of proinflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-2 (IL-2), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), chemokines (C-C-motif chemokine ligand (CCL)-2, CCL-3 and CCL-5), also interleukin-2 (IL-2), interleukin-7 (IL-7) and, interleukin-10 (IL-10) (Ruan et al., 2020). Here, CCL3 is linked to COVID-19.
