More importantly, differences in molecular and pathological features reported in patients with right-sided and left-sided colon cancer may lead to different clinical features; for example, patients with metastatic right-sided cancer are more likely to have signet ring cell features, higher pathological T stage and grade, KRAS mutation, and microsatellite instability, which may also contribute to a worse prognosis of right-sided colon cancer (18–20). This evidence concerns the gene KRAS and malignant colon neoplasm.
