These analyses identified 60 AD-associated genes that are altered in aged MOLs, with an apparent EGFR-ANXA5-GSN-APOD axis interconnected with a myelin gene hub; ANXA5 (annexin 5) is involved in pathogenesis through autophagy mechanisms (Iannaccone et al., 2015; Xi et al., 2020), and APOD (apolipoprotein D) is a secreted glycoprotein involved in lipid transport that is linked to AD, MS and other neuroinflammatory diseases (Reindl et al., 2001; Li et al., 2015). The gene discussed is APOD; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
