Furthermore, three discrepant results were observed among the confirmatory assays, one sample confirmed HTLV-2 infection in three tests (WB, LIA and mqPCR_HTLV pol), and was repeatedly detected positive for HTLV-1 and HTLV-2 by mqPCR-tax and for HTLV-1 by PCR-RFLP (tax) (Patient N. 40, Table 7), data published elsewhere (Campos et al., 2017b). This evidence concerns the gene CNTN2 and HTLV-2 infection.
