Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is characterised neuropathologically by the accumulation of extracellular cerebral amyloid plaques, composed of aggregated amyloid β (Aβ) peptides, intracellular neurofibrillary tangles of hyperphosphorylated aggregated tau, reactive micro/astroglia, dystrophic neurites and progressive neuronal loss. Here, MAPT is linked to Alzheimer disease.
