In accordance with this study, we demonstrate that the CA IX/XII inhibition improved the therapeutic efficacy of Cis-Pt in HNSCC xenografts increasing tumor cell death as shown by in vivo molecular imaging with NIR-Annexin V and by analysis of cleaved-form of caspase-3 and PARP expression levels from ex vivo tumors. This evidence concerns the gene CA9 and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
