The activation of TLR4/NF-κB in glial cells increases susceptibility to epilepsy (Iori et al., 2013) and is possibly associated with increased concentrations of IL-1β (Dubé et al., 2005), TNF-α (Balosso et al., 2005), IL-6 (Fukuda et al., 2007), and IL-2 (De Sarro et al., 1994). This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and epilepsy.
